And there was another engine in the back too - the project

and some under the bonnet. Most people would scrap something like this but all the loose parts (mainly Dauphine and 4CV/750) are for sale or been sold through the club parts shop and the rest stored ready for a rebuild.

This is the car that was originally owned by John Bolster and passed to the club to look after, they in turn passed it to Renault and a club member has just finished the restoration. People may note some missing parts. The car was put back to the original photos when John had it (except it was brown then) during an earlier rebuild someone did it blue and he preferred it so it stayed. John though like to motor a bit and hence anything not strictly necessary and certainly not bolted down went. Hence no hub caps, over riders and much more - if you know where to look.

The engine is not standard either

It's a wonder the badge stayed on. Oddly as we have now also confirmed from a picture of it being collected it had over-riders when new and the front badge said RNUR not the normal Renault badge of some earlier Acton cars.

The inside - we kept the stickers.

This picture (dated late 1955) was in one of the files collected during the project. From the 1955 Motor Magazine. Oddly showing a right hand drive 750 rather than the usually French shots and the Diamond intakes, over riders and some other details.

This is Alasdair's before he was given it. He's also got a Laguna tow car and a Megane shakin' that ass

One of our French members 14 (we also have a couple of UK Ones)

Willie Pace who took is 4 all the way from Malta to Thenay. About 20 UK Renault 4s went along with 1000s from the continent. Whilst the 4 is one of the more "remaining" classic/modern Renaults, numbers still are not great (compared to some other cars to the period) and it is a car whose budget price makes it still a popular and affordable classic for the everyday person. It of course celebrated 50 years since it's launch in France this year.

Alasdair on the 1900 Renault - We are often criticised of only being interested in Modern cars but from time to time we do get to join up with the Frères that do the pre 1940 Renaults so do associate with older cars too as well as the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s,00s and 10s in the club. We also sometimes get criticised for being an old car club. But the Treasurer has a Megane and an 18, the membership Secretary a Clio Williams, The Editor a 750, Laguna and Megane, The Modified Secretary a 19, John on the Committee has a 16 and a 5 (had a 21), Hector has a 5 and his wife's 8S. Registrars cover all sorts of models, Laurence Macduff our 12 Registrar has a 12 but also has a whole fleet of other cars. Mike Fawke who runs the shop has a 5 Gordini. In fact when this was penned we had cars from every decade the club has covered and pretty much every model (perhaps not every variant) there is even a 7 in the club and that was not even sold here! Numbers dictate (as there are fewer and fewer truly old cars remaining) that newer cars make up a good percentage of our club but this also gives us a younger element to the club - although as pointed out a lot of the older members have new cars too!

The biggest area of the club is always the classified and parts area and the shop does well. We have a good range of events - and some new ones for our Diamond Anniversary - and all of these are open to all ages of cars - although some have space limits.
